Into the Valley of Schmoon Rode the x-Hundred

I stopped doing any sort of internet round-ups some time ago (I leave that to Marisa) but the last day or so has thrown up a few items of interest. In short:

Thomas Hegghammer responds to accusations that those attempting to understand the jihad are schmoos.

Also referencing schmoo-ism, Jarret Brachman reminds us why jihadist media matters even if much of it sucks.

Pat Porter asks how AQ’s jihad is getting on? NEFA assesses AQ in 2008.

Also at Kings of War, David Betz is wondering about strategy and cyberattacks.

Sam Liles makes some very salient points about cybersecurity.

The Register reports that the UK is part of a shadowy Euro-scheme to restrict access to jihadi material on the net, and quotes my report suggesting this is unlikely to be productive. More on this if it comes to light. Drew makes his thoughts plain on this issue.

Shock horror: extremists hosting websites in US, reports the Washington Post.
