New Article in Infinity Journal
I have a new article in the Mar-Jun 2009 edition of Infinity Journal. The ‘In Focus’ section is on terrorism, and I have contributed a paper entitled, ‘Digital information and the persistence of global insurgency‘ [free registration required]. This paper has its origins in a much older piece I wrote about this time last year but was revamped sometime this past winter. The website’s undergoing some restructuring and redesign, which is probably why the formatting is a bit awry, but it’s worth reading anyway, I hope.
In her recent critique of my co-authored ICSR report on online radicalisation, Pauline Hope Cheong suggested that the report overlooked “the diffusion of online messages over time and and the importance of ‘viral’ messaging systems.” That is probably true but it was not forgotten, as my article shows. I am all too aware of these phenomena and my piece looks at them in a speculative/theoretical fashion.
