Postill Reads So You Don’t Have To

John Postill has an excellent summary of Tom Boellstorff’s Coming of Age in Second Life: An Anthropologist Explores the Virtually Human (Princeton University Press, 2008). I’ve actually read most of Boellstorff’s thoughtful and erudite book and highly recommend it. For those without the time and inclination to tackle the whole thing, John Postill’s summary provides a good prĂ©cis of the main points and themes of the book, broken down into chapters.

I read the book. I love it, it’s great. Very inspiring.

I agree. It’s a groundbreaking work, and a lesson in how to do one thing very well. I only read it recently but was gratified to see he uses a lot of the same sources as I have. His product though is an awful lot better!
